About

Established in 1886, the Bega Showground is a Crown Land Reserve within the Bega Township. The Bega Show which commenced in 1872 moved to the Market Reserve, now the Bega Park and Swimming Pool in 1876. The Showground has hosted the Bega Show since its inception. Within easy walking distance to the Bega CBD, the Showground is an ideal short-term caravan and camping location for visitors to the Bega Valley.

In more challenging times the Bega Showground becomes a major Evacuation Centre for the Bega Valley. This has occurred in March 2018 at the time of the Tathra fires and again in the Black Summer fires of 2019/2020. It was after the Black Summer fires that the Bega Showground Land Managers were granted major funding through the Commonwealth / State Government Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund (BLER) for the construction of a modern, accessible Evacuation Centre to support the residents of the Bega Valley.

In less challenging times this facility operates as the Bega Showground Community Centre, a modern, well equipped facility available for a wide range of community functions and activities.
